Welcome to Staffordshire Bull Terrier Welfare
In the beginning, there was the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and those
who loved the breed. It wasn't the first among breeds, but it soon became
one of the most popular.
Which is why, many years ago, the need for a separate rescue group
was identified by some of the breed stalwarts, who, as a result started
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue.
As the need for help increased to major proportions, other areas
throughout the country formed their own local groups to help the
breed they loved.
Our Organisation
In August 1995, it was decided there was a need for a registered charity and
"Staffordshire Bull Terrier Welfare" was created, to work alongside the
other SBT rescue groups in the country, but to have a different unifying role.
The “hands-on” work would be left to the regional groups, whilst
"SBT Welfare" would become a support group, encouraging the others to
work together, as in unity there is strength.
Charitable status was conferred on “The Welfare” (as it's colloquially known)
on 14th October 1996.
“The Welfare” offers financial help to those who have Staffordshire Bull Terriers
and are in need of financial assistance, for veterinary fees, kennelling and similar contingencies.
Requests for such support are subject to a majority approval of the trustees.
Staffordshire Bull Terrier Welfare relies entirely on public donations for its continuing existence.
In their turn, many Staffordshire Bull Terriers rely on “The Welfare” to help them lead a healthy life.
You can help us to help Staffords in a number of ways: by joining as a Friend,
by making a donation, by Standing Order, a charity cheque, remembering SBT Welfare in your will. You may also be
interested in rehoming a Stafford currently in need, which you can do by contacting your nearest affiliated group.
